Basement slab repair and replacement

It is common for cracks to form in the foundation of a home after it is built. Most of the time, the cracks are normal, non-structural settlement cracks. However, there are many reasons why a foundation cracks, such as house settling, concrete shrinking and hardening, stress, and poor construction.

When a crack in the basement is combined with heaving, this is cause for concern. The uplift suggests that the ground beneath the basement is expanding. Heaving is particularly common in areas with clay soil. The ground creates enough pressure to lift and crack a concrete slab when it becomes wet.
